On December 17, 2019, George Lucas acquired his neighbor’s home on a 2.2-acre beachfront property directly next door to his Padaro Lane property for $28 million, The compound comprises a small Cape Cod-style home as well as a guesthouse, a tree house, and a barn. The property is about 11 miles from the center of Santa Barbara. Carpinteria has long drawn Hollywood types in search of seclusion.

The prior owner, Frances Morehart, died last year at 93. The property was sold to Mr. Lucas by her estate.

Best known as the creator of the “Star Wars” movie franchise, Mr. Lucas bought his first property, a smaller site but with more beach frontage, in 2010 for $19.5 million, records show. He tore down an existing home, replacing it with a Cape Cod-style property with a wraparound porch
