On April 14, 2015, the Santa Barbara Board of Supervisors approved Rick Caruso’s application to build the Montecito Miramar Hotel. Mr. Caruso was the third developer in 15 years to attempt to get approval, and on Tuesday he did ending years of fits and starts over the property.  The Los Angeles developer will be building a 170-room, 436 parking spots hotel on Miramar Beach as seen above in a painting by local Santa Barbara artist Chris Potter.  Upon final approval Tuesday Mr. Caruso invited the Board of Supervisors to the Grand Opening on April 30, 2018. Rick Caruso also added, “We will build a great hotel that you will be proud of!”
