Celebrating the 4th of July in Santa Barbara 2022

On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of declaring independence from Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence was officially adopted two days later, marked by the ringing of the Liberty Bell at Independence Hall in Philadelphia.

Have a wonderful Independence Day! Liberty, and justice for all.

At this time our democracy is under assault because one party has rejected commitment to the truth and for whatever reason spends its time undermining faith in elections and suppressing voting as a strategy for reclaiming power?

We can do better. United we stand, divided we fall.

CELEBRATING THE 4TH OF JULY IN SANTA BARBARA

TURN UP THE VOLUME – OUR NEIGHBORS WERE DEFINITELY PARTYING!
  • Presented by Garden State Fireworks and sponsored by the City of Santa Barbara Waterfront Department, Santa Barbara’s seaside fireworks show begins at 9 p.m. Fireworks will launch from West Beach and can be viewed all along Cabrillo Boulevard and from Stearns Wharf, where a free, all-day Fourth of July celebration will begin with a cannon firing at noon, face painting at 2 p.m., and live music by Area 51 at 4 p.m. The fireworks soundtrack will be simulcast on 92.9 FM KjEE.
  • There will be live music at West Beach from noon to 8:50 p.m., including performances by The Detar Music Review, Drifting Dimension, Sweetheart Sisters, Why Golf Why, Brandi Lentini and Band, Slideways + La Boheme dancers, Fiesta dancers, Riding Out the Storm, False Puppet, and Petty Set Go. There will also be food and vendor booths along Cabrillo Boulevard from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Santa Barbara residents are invited to bring picnic chairs and blankets for the “Star-Spangled Fourth of July Concert” at the Sunken Gardens. The Pierre Claeyssens Veterans Foundation will present a patriotic concert from the local Prime Time Band. The free show will begin at 5 p.m.
  • The Santa Barbara Running Association is inviting hikers, runners, and walkers for a July 4 scenic trails race with an ocean view at Elings Park (1298 Las Positas Rd.).
